Monitoring the flow of long products across Almet’s footprint reveals clear regional signals shaping sourcing strategy.
As of February 16, 2026, the data highlights strong demand and disciplined quota utilisation:
- Turkish Rebars (EU market): Turkish rebar quotas in the EU remain accessible, with roughly one-third still available, supporting continued regional flexibility.
- UK Tightness, Merchant Bars: In the UK, Turkish merchant bars are fully utilised, reflecting concentrated demand for these grades in structural and distribution channels.
- Selective Origin Shifts: Other origins, including Egypt, have also exhausted UK rebar allocations, increasing reliance on EU-origin rebars, where approximately 90% of quota remains available.
These developments are not constraints, they are signals.
When certain origins tighten, supply strategy must adapt. Origin mix, allocation timing, and shipment sequencing become critical to maintaining project continuity.
At Almet Trading, we use this regional quota intelligence to anticipate shifts before they reach site level, ensuring our partners in the UK and wider region maintain programme certainty.
