A significant step for Azerbaijani steel on the global stage

Our mill in Azerbaijan, Almet-STP, the joint venture between STP Group of Companies and Almet Holding, has successfully obtained independent TÜV AUSTRIA verification in accordance with the internationally recognised ISO 14064 standard for greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reporting.

For us, this is more than a certification, it’s a responsibility to the generations that follow.

At Almet Holding, we believe environmental responsibility is not a choice but an obligation. Producing steel from recycled scrap transforms waste into valuable raw material, reduces the need for virgin resources, and lowers the carbon footprint of every tonne produced. Measuring these emissions and having them independently verified is what turns commitment into accountability.

This achievement also strengthens our international competitiveness. As the European Union implements the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the United Kingdom prepares to introduce its own carbon border framework from 2027, transparent and independently verified emissions data will become increasingly important for customers, partners, and global supply chains. It reinforces the position of Azerbaijani steel in international markets.

For Almet Holding, this is another step in building a more sustainable steel ecosystem—from scrap collection and production to logistics and international trade. It also supports Azerbaijan’s long-term strategy to diversify non-oil exports and increase the competitiveness of domestic industry.

We sincerely thank STP Group of Companies for this successful partnership and PASHA Bank for supporting projects that contribute to the sustainable development of Azerbaijan’s industrial sector.
